Frequently Asked Questions
What is public relations and who needs the service?
Public relations, or PR, includes all the things you can do to get the attention of your target audience, to tell it who you are and why your products or services are worthy of its attention. A good PR campaign will boost awareness of your products or services and, ultimately, lead to increased sales. This means anyone who has a service or product on offer needs to put a PR plan in place. This includes business of all sizes, from start-up companies and sole traders to multinational organisations.
Isn't advertising more effective than a press release or PR service?
There's no question that good advertising bears fruit. But the process of designing and producing an advert is no simple matter. What's more, placing it in newspapers and magazines – or on TV – can cost tens of thousands of pounds. That's where publicity comes in. A good press release, story or publicity 'stunt' will generate coveted column inches without the hassle (or spiraling costs) of an advertising campaign.
I run a successful business already. Why shouldn't I hire my own in-house publicist or communications director?
Depending on the size of your business, hiring an in-house expert can be an efficient use of your PR budget. But if you can't afford to hire the best, you'll be left with a staffer with little experience or contacts. Outside PR firms are also more objective and can inject new energy into existing campaigns.
I've never worked with the press before. Will I receive media coaching?
Palamedes PR understands that speaking directly to the media can be a daunting experience. For that reason, we act as a 'buffer' between you and the TV, radio, or printed publication. We'll also help you polish your interview skills, and provide tips about side-stepping difficult questions.
Where will my press release be distributed?
Palamedes PR distributes all national press copy through SWNS, Britain's largest independent press agency. SWNS use a newswire that all national newspapers subscribe to. Regional, broadcast, online and specialist media will be contacted directly in order to maximise your coverage.
I've tried publicity in the past, but my story has fizzled out after a few days. How can I stop this happening again and keep my story in the media spotlight?
Keeping a product or service in the media glare can be a difficult – and very expensive – task. But it needn't be. We can help you find that timely and newsworthy 'angle' again and again to make sure your story stays at the forefront of peoples' minds.
How much does your press release and PR packages cost?

Can I make any changes to the press release?

Can you guarantee that the media will contact me and/or pick up my story?
No. We'll do everything possible to give your service or product a timely and newsworthy angle. And we'll pass it to the most applicable publication or journalist. But there is always the possibility that your story is not used.
